Walk-in Pantry Tops List of Kitchen Features |

According to the National Association of Home
Builders, a walk-in pantry is the feature most requested by people who are
having a single-family home built. According to NAHB’s free publication
called “Housing Facts, Figures & Trends 2004,” 78% of the respondents
rated these large pantries as “desirable or essential.” Coming in second
with 71%, according to this survey of new kitchen preferences, was island
work areas and the third most popular special feature in this area was
light wood cabinets (59%).Also reported in this publication, a typical newly built 2,272 square-foot home would have an average of 19 windows, 19 tons of cement and 13,387 board feet, according to the latest NAHB research. Atlanta led all U.S. metro markets in single-family permits during the first nine months of 2003, followed in order by Phoenix-Mesa, Riverside-San Bernardino, Houston and Washington. The New York metro area led the country in multi-family permits, followed by Houston, Chicago, Atlanta and Las Vegas. |
